Kalonix Quarterly
Editorial Standards

THE REVIEW PROCESS.

Kalonix Quarterly operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

01   Core Editorial Principles
Independence

Commercially Unattached

Kalonix Quarterly is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body. No article selection, editorial angle, or subject emphasis is influenced by commercial consideration.

Sourcing

Referenced and Verifiable

All factual claims require a cited source — either published research in peer-reviewed journals, direct quotation from a named qualified wellness professional, or documented field observation. Claims without a verifiable source are removed during editorial review.

Correction

Errors Acknowledged

When a factual error is identified in a published article, a correction is added to the article and a note published in the subsequent issue. The original passage is preserved with a strikethrough where relevant, so the nature of the correction is visible to the reader.

02   The Review Process — Six Stages
01

Pitch Assessment

All submissions begin as pitches — a short outline of topic, angle, and approximate length. The section editor assesses whether the subject sits within the publication's coverage areas, whether the proposed angle is editorially distinct from existing or recently published articles, and whether the writer's background is appropriate for the subject.

02

First Draft Review

On commission, the writer submits a full first draft. The section editor reviews for structural coherence, factual sourcing, and register. Drafts that rely on unsupported claims, use aspirational rather than observational language, or fall outside the publication's tone register are returned with specific revision notes at this stage.

03

Source Verification

Each factual claim in the submitted draft is cross-referenced against its cited source. Where a claim is paraphrased from research, the paraphrase is checked for accuracy. Where a quotation is attributed to a named professional, the attribution is confirmed in correspondence. This stage is completed by the section editor before the article moves to the founding editor.

04

Second Editorial Read

The founding editor reads the verified draft independently. This read focuses on editorial quality: clarity of argument, economy of language, appropriate register, and whether the article delivers on its stated editorial angle. A final round of revisions may be requested at this stage before the article is placed on the publication schedule.

05

Commercial Disclosure Check

Before publication, the writer is asked to confirm that no commercial relationship — affiliate arrangement, sponsored engagement, product provision, or financial interest — has influenced the subject selection, sources cited, or any recommendation made in the article. Where such a relationship exists, the article is either declined or published with a clearly visible disclosure note.

06

Publication and Archiving

Approved articles are published to the website with full byline, publication date, and source citations. Each article is archived in the quarterly issue record. The website archive is maintained indefinitely; articles are not removed following publication except in the case of fundamental factual inaccuracy, in which case the article is replaced with a correction notice explaining the withdrawal.

03   Sourcing Standards

What Qualifies as a Source

Kalonix Quarterly applies a structured hierarchy of source quality. At the highest level: peer-reviewed research published in indexed journals. Below that: position papers and guidance documents from recognised nutritional and fitness research bodies. Below that: documented quotations from named, qualified wellness professionals with stated credentials.

Anecdote, personal opinion, and unverified third-party reporting do not qualify as sources for factual claims. They may appear in the writing as observational material — to illustrate a point, not to establish it. The distinction between observation and evidence is maintained editorially across all articles.

Content published by Kalonix Quarterly is selected based on published nutritional research and undergoes independent batch verification for quality and labelling accuracy. Writers are required to provide links or references to their cited sources as part of the submission package.

Tier 1 Sources
  • – Peer-reviewed journals (PubMed, Cochrane, JAMA, BMJ)
  • – WHO and EFSA nutritional guidance documents
  • – Published meta-analyses and systematic reviews
Tier 2 Sources
  • – Qualified nutrition and fitness professionals (named, credentials verified)
  • – Institutional research bodies with stated methodology
  • – Published books by verified specialists in the relevant field
Not Accepted as Sources
  • – Anonymous online commentary or forum posts
  • – Brand-produced research without independent verification
  • – Social media posts, even from named professionals
  • – AI-generated content presented as research
04   Content Policy

What the Publication Does Not Publish

Kalonix Quarterly does not publish content that makes performance claims beyond what is supported by the cited sources. It does not publish ranked lists of products, "best of" comparisons with commercial intent, or any content in which the primary editorial purpose is to direct readers toward a purchase decision.

The publication also does not publish content that uses aspirational or imperative language to motivate behaviour change. The editorial register is observational and informational. Readers are regarded as capable of drawing their own conclusions from well-presented information.

Articles published on Kalonix Quarterly are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on everyday wellness practices. The content is not intended as professional advice, nor as guidance for the management of any specific condition. Readers with specific concerns about their daily routines are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.

Category Coverage Boundaries

The five coverage areas — physical practice, nutritional habits, grooming and presentation, work-life rhythm, and long-form editorial — each have defined boundaries. Physical practice covers training, movement, and active recovery; it does not cover performance supplementation in commercial terms or anything adjacent to regulated substance use.

Nutritional habits covers whole foods, meal preparation, and eating patterns supported by published research. It does not cover weight-loss programmes, fasting protocols, or any dietary approach that has not been evaluated in peer-reviewed literature.

Grooming and personal presentation covers product selection, routine development, and seasonal wardrobe planning. It does not cover cosmetic procedures or any approach requiring professional engagement beyond the scope of a personal care routine.

05   Writer Standards

Who Writes for Kalonix Quarterly

The publication works with a small group of regular contributing editors and a rotating selection of guest writers whose backgrounds are relevant to the article subject. Writers are not required to hold formal qualifications in every subject they cover — the editorial register is journalistic rather than academic — but they are required to be genuinely informed about their subject and able to verify their factual claims.

Disclosure of Commercial Relationships

All writers must disclose any commercial relationship — current or recent — with brands, products, or organisations mentioned or relevant to their article. Disclosure is mandatory, not optional. Undisclosed relationships that become apparent after publication result in the article's removal.

Register Compliance

Writers must maintain the publication's observational register. Aspirational, imperative, or marketing-adjacent language is edited out during review. Writers who consistently submit drafts in the wrong register are not commissioned for subsequent articles.

Source Provision

Full sourcing must accompany the final draft. Writers retain responsibility for the accuracy of their cited sources; the editorial team verifies but does not independently research in place of the writer. Inaccurate sourcing is grounds for article withdrawal.

Original Work Only

All submitted work must be original and not previously published. Simultaneous submission to other publications while under review by Kalonix Quarterly is not permitted. Writers who breach this are not invited to contribute subsequently.

06   Corrections and Updates

How Errors Are Handled

Errors identified by readers or the editorial team are assessed within three working days. Minor errors — typographical, formatting, or non-material — are corrected quietly, with a date of correction added to the article footer. Material errors — those that affect the factual integrity or meaning of the article — are corrected with an in-article note explaining what was wrong and what the correct information is.

The publication does not delete corrections from the record. Where an article has been substantially corrected, a note is included in the corrections section of the subsequent issue, identifying the article and summarising the correction. This policy applies regardless of how the error was identified or by whom.

Reporting an Error

Readers who identify a factual error are encouraged to contact the editorial team at [email protected] with the article title, the specific passage in question, and the alternative information or source they believe should be considered.

All correction requests are taken seriously and receive a response. Where the editorial team determines that no error exists — that the passage is accurate as written — an explanation is provided to the reader. Where an error is confirmed, the correction is made promptly.
